Overview
Three quarters of a million people are living with HIV in Ethiopia. 90% of those who need antiretroviral treatment are not getting it. The need for care, support and access to treatment has never been more important. We work with the Organization for Social Services, Health and Development (OSSHD) to provide care and support for people living with HIV, children who have lost their parents to AIDS and families who need our support. OSSHD has trained pastoral leaders in prevention, care and support and has four free HIV/AIDS information telephone hotlines. They also carry out prevention activities for marginalized groups who are most at risk of HIV infection including sex workers, men who have sex with men and people who inject drugs. In 2014 they reached over 7,000 people with these activities. OSSHD is also working with young people in Ethiopia as part of the Link Up project, an ambitious, five country programme which aims to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of more than one million young people over three years. In 2014 OSSHD reached over 36,000 people with HIV and sexual and reproductive health services.
